Finding the right balance: The GLA’s framework for managing risk
Carrying out analysis. Making judgements. Taking decisions. Implementing policy. Running projects. We do all of these things – day in, day out – for the benefit of London and Londoners. It is why the Greater London Authority exists.
Of course we do not operate in a vacuum. Indeed the GLA serves perhaps the most dynamic city on the planet. Our environment is perpetually shifting. Events are constantly unfolding. Some of these events we can anticipate with a good deal of certainty. Others, conversely, are characterised by their uncertainty. Just as these events vary in their predictability, so they differ in their potential impact. At the positive end of the spectrum there are opportunities for us to grasp. And at the negative end there are threats which we must manage and mitigate.
